tsk tsk tsk.. why am i so emo these days...
from joining a canto dialect group on facebook somehow led me to realise that having grandparents at home can be a blessing. true - old folks can be stubborn, long winded, sometimes very messy, forgetful, very careless and the list goes on. but when three generations live together under the roof - the younger generation will always benefit from viewing the interactions between the parents and grandparents. so when we grow up - we will know what to do and what not to.
and without having grandparents at home - i would never know my dialect. my parents never talk to me in dialect. dad talks to me in english, mom to me in chinese. so i am thankful that i live with my grandparent who teach me the beauty of cantonese dialect.
anyway sunday is always the time i transform into a domestic helper. i mop, i iron, i tidy the house, i run errands and if the weather permits - i wash the car too. no car to wash today so the second half of today was spent spring cleaning.. for a moment - i wished i had spent the time doing something else because it feels like the whole day was wasted. but i enjoy tidying my corner of the room.
as john lennon says: time you enjoy wasting is not wasted. hahaha
so now that i have sorted out my misc. stuff, my cupboard is super neat now! i feel shiok because everyone else's corner is super untidy and only mine is neat! my corner is clustered with stuff but neat. the only spring cleaning left to do is to sort out important stuff like letters and . and, yes i need to arrange my notes to see how much ground i have to cover before mock. damn proud. *victory sign* btw, i share the bedroom with 2 other people so sorting out stuff to maximise space usage is a skill.
new bedsheets tonight!
*rolls in bed breathing in the wonderful smell of clean laundry*
wiping the layer of dust off my table will take place 2, 3 days before Chinese New Year actually comes. all the construction going on in my area irks me because it is always so DUSTY!! i cannot imagine how all the dust will gather when the new ritz carlton hotel starts construction.
Gone will be the beautiful scenery outside my room.. no more view of birds perched on trees, no more view of people playing soccer on the open field. the new hotel is directly opposite my house - covering the only patch of green in the area..
soon - it would start to really feel like i am living in a concrete jungle.
sad...
